The art dates back to a time prior to 246 BC and contains a full spectrum of striking using the hands, feet, knees elbows & head. Additionally it is the devastating locking and throwing techniques that are the focus of the Mongolian system and what you get is a brutally effective no nonsense fighting art that is an excellent system for self protection. Our Green Swallow system has a heavy focus on training methods and developing a concept know as Tieh Ren Tieh Xin. (Iron Body Iron Will) This is a link between focused intent and achieving the goal despite obstacles. Mongolian Shuai Jiao practitioners are dedicated, deliberate and when necessary Deadly. Effective as both a practical combat art as well as a meditative health system BaguaZhang is one of the most all inclusive systems you will ever encounter. Our BaguaZhang comes from multiple sources however we focus primarily on the Jiang Rong Qiao system. |
| Daoist Yoga & Chen Tai Chi Mondays 4-6 PM Daoist Yin & Yang Yoga is a practice that teaches us how to recognize the difference between muscular and structural stretching. Understanding this allows us to safely and intelligently practice towards or goals. This is a great practice for beginners to advanced. The Grand Earth system of Yoga focuses on developing strength and flexibility through both stationary and moving postures. This practice is for intermediate to advanced students. Beginning students should refer back to Daoist Yin & Yang Practice. Taijiquan (Tai Chi Ch’uan) is a health nourishing internal art that appeared around the early 16th century in China. Students of Taijiquan learn a series of postures linked in a sequence to create a flowing exercise. Forms are done in slow motion at first as the student learns to sense the interaction of his mind and body. Our program has three levels Level 1 focuses on the form. Level two focuses on building awareness through a series of games and exercises. Our Third level focuses on the legendary Taijiquan sword training. |
| Jian Shu Saturdays 1-3 PM JianShu translates as "sword skill" and is a passion for many around the world. At The Monkey we teach in the spirit if the Yu Xia or Chinese Martial Knight errant and our program is divided into five levels. Level one covers the basic sword, body and foot movement. level two introduces structured sparring and intermediate techniques. The third level covers free play and advanced technique,. In level four we explore the sword spirit connection and sword meditation. Our fifth level of training teaches test cutting techniques and refined movement ideas The Laughing Monkey Jian Shu team is recognized by the World JianShu League. We take seriously this role and strive to produce swordsmen of the highest caliber on a consistent basis.
